Frieze Library: Volume One, London
Oct. 11–Oct. 15, 2023
Following the success of the Frieze Library at Frieze New York over the last five years, Gordon Robichaux introduces the initiative at the London fairs, to coincide with the 20th Anniversary of Frieze London.
The Frieze Library: Volume One, London is a collaboration with the Victoria & Albert Museum and Gordon Robichaux and takes place across Frieze London and Frieze Masters.
The Frieze Library functions as a curatorial collaboration between the fair, magazine, museum, and gallery. The initiative invites each Frieze London exhibitor to submit one art publication, which together forms a collection of works on display at the fair.
At the close of the fair, the collection is donated to the National Art Library at the Victoria & Albert Museum Library forming part of its permanent collection.
Galleries are invited to submit a title that they feel both echoes their fair presentation and speaks to the present moment. The collection of volumes functions as a kind of archive of the fair, offering a reflection of the present day as seen through the eyes of artists, writers, and art world professionals.
